The Arboriculture Society of Michigan Foundation promotes the profession of arboriculture and urban forestry in the State of Michigan. It is our mission to promote the study of arboriculture through scholarship, preserve the history of arboriculture and educate the public to professional arboricultural practices.

Joe Aiken

Joe Aiken

President, ASM Foundation

Joe Aiken, Senior Regional Technical Manager for Great Lake States and Canada. An ISA certified arborist with over 30 years in the tree industry, Joe Aiken’s knowledge of plant health care is both diverse and extensive. Joe shares his belief in tree preservation by educating others on the benefit of protecting our urban and natural forests with more environmentally friendly solutions. Joe currently works as a Senior Regional Technical Manager with Arborjet, covering the Great Lake States and Canada. He provides sales and technical support to national accounts, distributors, and plant health care professionals.

Brian Colter

Brian Colter

Board Member

Brian Colter is a certified arborist. He is the City Forester at the City of Grosse Pointe Park. Brian’s expertise includes management of city trees, maintaining tree Inventories and general tree consulting. Brian also provides consulting services in the areas of municipal ordinance drafting and compliance. In addition to his work with the city, Brian is a liaison to the Grosse Pointe Park Beautification Commission and on the Board of Directors of Keep Michigan Beautiful.

Cathy Zaccardelli

Cathy Zaccardelli has an Associates Degree in Landscape Horticulture and is a Certified Arborist with both the International Society of Arboriculture and the Arboriculture Society of Michigan. She has a Bachelors Degree in Real Estate and is considered an entrepreneur, having run a small business for over 25 years. Her intense passion for trees, as well as the benefits they provide to the environment, are evident in both her conversation and her drive to share her enthusiasm.

Kevin Sayers

Mr. Sayers has been employed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as the state Urban and Community Forestry Coordinator since 2002.  He is a graduate of Michigan State University (2001) with a Masters degree in Forestry.  Kevin administers the state urban forestry program at the DNR in Lansing.  This program provides technical, educational and financial assistance to communities and partners throughout the state to support a variety of urban forestry activities.  Prior to working for the DNR, Kevin worked in the tree nursery industry, and with the municipal forestry program at the City of Lansing.

Lisa Kyle

Board Secretary & Treasurer

Lisa Kyle is a charter member of the Arboriculture Society of Michigan Foundation, and serves on the Board of Keep Michigan Beautiful. Lisa also Chairs the Grosse Pointe Park Beautification Commission, which advises the City of Grosse Pointe Park on beautification and environmental concerns; promotes and publicizes projects for beautification and environmental concerns for the City and acknowledges projects of beautification.

Tracy Moloughney

Tracy Moloughney has served as a Landscape Horticulture Paraprofessional for Oakland Community College.  In this role, Tracy provided educational support to the professors, adjuncts and students of the Landscape Horticulture Program. She has an Associate’s Degree in Landscape Horticulture, with a primary focus in Arboriculture. Tracy also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Michigan State University. Tracy feels that her combined educational and field experience makes her a true advocate for the field of arboriculture and the green industry. She believes it is important that we recognize our emotional connection to trees, plants and green spaces and how they truly benefit our relationships, physical health and mental spirit.  

Fred Rottach

Fred Rottach

Board Member

Fred has an extensive background in city planning and related Urban Sciences. As an administrator for the City of Detroit, Fred supervised a diverse range of property management, real estate acquisition, and urban renewal projects. Through this experience Fred has developed a critical grasp of the key environmental, zoning and infrastructure issues facing cities both large and small.  Recently, Fred has served the City of Grosse Point Park as City Planner, and he is currently a Planning Consultant working on a number of Detroit housing development programs.
